Florida
- Day 17
Sunday 9th November 2025
Participants: Tam, Kev, India, Georgia and Charlie
We all lie in until 9.00 am as we're going to have a leisurely morning. After breakfast we watch the American Football from Munich and the Grand Prix fron Brazil. It really is a wide world of sports.
We
catch the bus to the Magic Kingdom at 1.30 pm. It's overcast and
starts raining as soon as we arrive. They are supposed to be
filming the parade to show on TV on Christmas day, but the
weather puts paid to that and they have to cancel.
With umbrellas up we get around to the TTA relatively untouched
by the rain. A trip round Tomorrowland on the TTA is always fun
and relaxing.

Straight into the Carousel of Progress which is a little dated now, they really need to update the last scene.
We
walk across to Adventureland where we have a 3.45 pm reservation
at Beak and Barrel the new Pirates of the Caribbean themed bar.
We all really like this place. The theming is excellent and the
lighting perfect. We have a booth in the corner of the back room
that we share with another couple. I get the maaaargarita, which
is nice. Our server is Kit who is really in character. As well as
drinks we share the Island Provisions, which is tortilla chips,
plantain chips and toasted flatbread served with mango chutney,
garlic chimichurri, spicy guacamole and zesty cilantro dip or as
Kit puts 'Arrgh, ye be havin' the chipsies and dipsies'.
There are several short shows featuring an audio animatronic
parrot, but the theming is really the star of the show. We all
enjoy this place a great deal.

Aargh, it be the chipsies and the dipsies.

We
leave around 4.30 pm and catch a bus to Saratoga Springs from
where we walk to Disney Springs. Thankfully its stopped raining
and is turning into a very pleasant evening. Just as well as the
cold snap starts tomorrow.
We go to the Boathouse for a beer at the dock bar and sit to look
out over the lake although it's a bit disconcerting when a boat
goes by and the dock rocks gently in it's wake.
We have a 7.00 pm reservation at Morimoto Asia and have to wait a
few minutes so we get a couple of beers to split while we watch a
band at the stage next to the Hanger Bar. They play Chicken Fried
by the Zac Brown Band and that makes Charlie particularly happy.
Morimoto Asia is nicely decorated inside and our table is at the
far end. Our server is very good. I shan't mention her name as we
discuss with her how we've all told fibs about our children's
ages in order to sneak a 3 year old into the parks when you are
supposed to buy them a ticket over the age of 2.
We share the Spicy Tuna Roll, Chicken and Lemongrass Dim Sum, Tempura Prawns, Hoisin Ribs, 2 sorts of Ramen and the Peking Duck for 2. All are nice, but the standouts for Tam and I are the Duck Ramen and the Tuna Roll. We have a couple of glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon and then split desserts of Churro Donuts and Nama Chocholate.
While
we are waiting to pay the bill India leaves to join the queue at
Gideon's Bakehouse as the ladies are determined to get their
hands on some cookies. When we leave the restaurant India is
about half way along the line, there's always a long queue here.
Charlie and I go to the bar outside the House of Blues. We have
beers, watch the football and listen to the last few songs of the
duo that are playing on the porch. The ladies join us to show off
their cookie purchases. Me, Tam and India now get the bus back to
The Boardwalk while Georgia and Charlie decide to stay out a
little longer. It takes a long time to travel the relatively
short distance as the bus stops and the Yacht Club and Beach Club
first. In bed around midnight.
