Florida - Day 19
Tuesday 11th November 2025

Written by Kev

Participants: Tam, Kev, India, Georgia and Charlie

Georgia and Charlie are off home today and me, Tam and India are moving from a 2 bed to a studio (still in The Boardwalk), so we're not up too early and have breakfast in the room.
Tam and I go to the lobby to check in for the next 3 days and the nice chap there helps us and says that they will try and get our new room ready before 11.00 am so we can move straight into it.

We all pack up and true to his word our new room (5073) is available at 10.30 am. We trundle the suitcases down the hall a little way to the room, which is on the same floor. We see why it's available so early as it's one of the less desirable rooms overlooking the porte cochere. Still, it doesn't bother us as we're only here for 3 nights.

Into Epcot for Georgia and Charlie to pack in some more Food and Wine Festival stuff. We start in Canada with the Cheddar and Bacon Soup and the Filet Mignon along with a small beer. We make use of a few more of the booths including sharing pork sliders and ravioli before we all have the trout, which has been one of the standouts of the festival along with the churro bites.

To be fair to them some of the Photopass photos worked out quite nicely.

We go into The Seas where we spend an hour looking at the manatees and the shraks, turtles and rays in the aquarium.

We pass one booth called Flavours From Fire and we are intrigued by the smoked corn beef, so we get that between us - nice but a bit salty. Charlie has been itching to try a pickle milkshake from the Brew Wing Labs at The Odyssey. It's green and a strange taste - a little minty as well as pickley, not horrible, but not really nice either.

We're heading out now, but have one last stop in Greece for a cheesy, honey type thing.
Back to the room where Georgia and Charlie pick up their cases and call an Uber. Shortly after we sadly wave goodbye to them and return to the room to unpack our things and enjoy a rum and coke. The rum has travelled with us from Anna Maria Island and has to be used up before we go home. That's my excuse anyway.

We leave for Disney Springs getting the bus at 4. 45 pm. We are aiming to get to the Summerhouse on the Lake before 6.00 pm where it's happy hour and you can sit at the bar and get a burger, beer and brownie for $12. Unfortunately everyone else has the same idea and the bars are full and there are even people hanging around hoping to get a spot. Strange arrangement as people are standing next to tables where people are eating, so we decide not to stay.
We walk around and find that many restaurants are shut for private functions. We end up in Frontera Cocina, a Mexican restaurant. Even then we have to sit outside under a heater, which is only just bearable as the temperature has dropped and it's getting pretty chilly. The good news is that we are 2 minutes away from the end of their happy hour and we get house margaritas for $7. We also have the chipsies and dipsies to start followed by a sort of flatbread tostada with grilled shrimp and a side order of esquites. a sort of creamy corn with cheese. The corn thing is nice, but I don't think we'll bother with this restaurant again.

We talk about plans for the next 2 days and decide to get up for early entry into the Magic Kingdom tomorrow. We get the bus back to The Boardwalk, but as it stops at the Yacht and Beach Club we get out there. We have a look at Beaches 'n Cream as the women want a sundae, but the wait is too long, so we walk around to the ice cream shop on The Boardwalk. India orders and Tam does soon after. These things are huge with 3 scoops of ice cream, sauces, cream etc. We're the only customers because it's cold and the ladies serving give Tam hers for free, very nice of them.

We sit and eat them in the lobby of The Boardwalk as it's certainly too cold to be eating ice cream outside.

I don't know why India looks so happy, ours was the free one. I guess she always looks happy with an ice cream sundae in her hand.

Tam looks quite happy with hers as well.

We decide on a last drink a Abracadabar where I have a Negroni.

Inds has a Manhattan. Last time she had one of these here she left very squiffy, so she's pleased that there seems to be copious amounts of alcohol in this one too.

We're back in the room and into bed at 10.00 pm. Georgia and Charlie would be disgusted.
