Gulet
Cruise Sept 2026
Plataria
Participants: Kev & Tam
Most days on board followed the same pattern. Breakfast in the port before sailing to a nice spot where we anchored up and swam from the boat before lunch. The first full day we left Corfu and sailed along the coast to moor up just off Benitses. I think everyone went in for a swim and the water was lovely, not too cold.

Benitses. Strangely Tam and I had visited this place many, many years ago on our first holiday abroad together. I don't think it's changed much.

The woggles (most other people called them noodles) were free to use and they had kayaks and paddleboards as well, but these came at an additional cost.
Lunches on board were consistantly good and changed every day. Plenty of fresh vegetable salads as well as various meat and fish dishes.

The food was included in the cost of the cruise, but drink was additional. The price was reasonable, I think it was 6.50 euro for a beer. The wine was best avoided though.

After lunch we sailed on to our destination for our overnight stop. Because of the forecast bad weather approaching the captain took us to Plataria, which was not on the original itinerary. It was a pleasant little place. The best thing about it were the numerous restaurants along the sea front.

One of the nicest aspects of the cruise was the ability to step off the ship straight into the centre of the town. Also getting back on in the evening after enjoying a meal at a taverna.

Our friend from Australia (Caz) joined us on several meals and she took the photos of us. It amused her that Tam said 'Look like you love me' before every snap. I did my best.

I think we all had the prawn linguine, which was very nice and rather filling.

We were also treated to a rather lovely sunset.
