Celebrity Apex, Norway cruise - May 2025
Participants: Tam, Kev and India
A cruise to the
fjords is something that Tam and I have always wanted to do, so
while we were on our 4 day Apex cruise in May 2024 we took the
opportunity to book while onboard. This gives some benefits
including some onboard credit, but the biggest perk is the
ability to change or rebook without penalty. If you book through
a travel agent or even on the Celebrity website you cannot amend
or cancel your cruise without paying a fee in the UK. If you book
onboard you can amend or change the cruise you take at no cost.
This proved to be very useful to us as we originally booked a 10
day cruise that went right up to the north of Norway, but decided
to change to a 7 night itinerary as this did 3 of the major
fjords. You can also rebook if the price drops to the new reduced
price and we did this twice saving quite a bit of money. We also
asked India if she would like to come along as you could add a
third person in the stateroom relatively cheaply.
I was concerned that we would be crammed in without enough
storage space, but it turned out to be fine and our infinite
verandah stateroom suited us very well.
Our intinerary
was:
Leave from Southampton
Day at sea
Nordfjordeid
Flam
Geiranger
Day at sea
Bruges
Return to Southampton
I won't put on too many photos of the Apex as I did so a short while ago on our first cruise on this ship.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather for the whole week. This is at sailaway from Southampton.
This is the Eden bar in the evening. We were pleasantly surprised at how the ship never seemed too busy. Of course there were times when you had to wait a short while to get a drink, but in general it wasn't too crowded and we got to do everything onboard that we wanted.
There was a small show in Eden every evening. These were very well attended and you needed to get there early if you wanted a seat.
This show in the main theatre was called Tree of Life. If I'm honest the best thing about this show was the young guy playing guitar before the show started.
I think this show was called Crystallize.
One of the speciality restaurants is called Le Grand Bistro. Some evenings they had a meal where there was a projection show onto the table during the meal. It's called Le Petit Chef and I must admit that we all thought it was great fun.
The graphics are excellent.
Of course all this would be pointless if the food wasn't any good, but we thought it was close to being the best meal we had on the ship. This was a Beef Wellington type thing.
